Brian was visibly caught off guard, later recounting to the hosts: 'You see how he leads me into deep water? He's trying to lead me into deep water. Now I'm a beta.' Things escalated when JLP made bizarre comments about 'black people made babies out of wet' and asked Brian 'what's wrong with the blacks?' Brian attempted a diplomatic response about Black contributions to American culture — 'We wouldn't have rock and roll. We wouldn't have our highest art form, jazz' — which the hosts found painfully inadequate. One host observed, 'Brian, you're not winning anyone over.'
