Nick Rekieta Claims Sheriff's Office Leaked Unredacted Arrest Docs
Nick Rekieta alleges someone inside the sheriff's office printed and photographed his unredacted arrest documents and posted them to Twitter the night he was arrested.
Nick Rekieta detailed what he describes as subtle but deliberate manipulations in the handling of his legal case, specifically claiming that someone within the sheriff's office leaked his unredacted arrest documents to Twitter. According to Rekieta, the leak occurred the night of his arrest, before he or his lawyers even had access to the paperwork. "Someone at the sheriff's office printed it off physically and took a picture of it. It wasn't filed anywhere," Rekieta stated. He noted that he still cannot obtain the unredacted version of the document that was shared publicly. Rekieta also addressed the unauthorized viewing of his body cam footage, explaining that it was viewed by two people due to an "error in how they categorized the video." While Rekieta admitted the drugs were his and he pled guilty, he argues that these procedural irregularities—document leaks and footage access errors—created public pressure and unfairly influenced the narrative around his case.
