Opie Ghosted by Matt Rife After Desperate Stream Invite
Opie revealed on his show that he reached out to comedian Matt Rife on social media, only to be ignored after asking Rife to appear on his live stream.
Opie shared screenshots of a social media exchange with comedian Matt Rife on his show, attempting to prove that the interaction happened. According to Opie, he noticed Rife following him and reached out saying, "Matt, I see you follow me. That's badass. Congrats on your career. Been watching from afar." Rife reportedly responded kindly, writing, "Thank you so much, man. Been following for a long time." The exchange soured when Opie followed up by asking Rife to "jump on my live stream tomorrow and say hi." Rife never responded. Opie's co-hosts immediately piled on, with one noting, "Immediately when you said that Matt Rife didn't respond when I asked him to come on the show, we all went, 'Yeah, that sounds right.'" Another co-host pointed out that Opie took Rife's kindness and immediately asked for something: "You still asked him for something. It was one sentence and you took his kindness and you said, 'Do something for me.'" The co-hosts mocked Opie for not recognizing how the interaction came across, with one saying, "I love when older people never even doubt for a second that they're maybe handling social media wrong." They noted that Rife, described as "a very famous guy who's usually texting with hot chicks," didn't owe a response and that his initial reply was already the favor. One co-host summed it up: "He hasn't even crossed the bridge and he burned it."
