Ron Still Hoping To Ride Opie Back To Radio Gig
Ron reportedly still believes Opie could help him land a radio gig, with Opie allegedly leading him to believe he might take over Howard Stern's time slot.
The hosts discussed Ron's persistent belief that he could return to radio through his association with Opie. 'Ron still thinks there's a possibility that he could ride Opie's coattails back to a gig,' one host noted, adding that Carl Ruiz was 'the last guy to have that happen for him' — getting paid to be on radio simply because he knew Greg Hughes. Opie has apparently fed Ron's hopes by suggesting that since Howard Stern is doing only one day a week, 'it'd be cool if like the Opie radio show was on the other four days.' The hosts dismissed this fantasy, pointing out that Opie was fired from SiriusXM and that 'nobody caring about his show' was only part of the reason — the workplace filming incident being the more serious cause. One host directly addressed Ron: 'Don't even come at me. Howard is off all summer and then when he comes back Labor Day, he's going to do one show a week. So, don't even come at me.'
